Happy 100th Birthday! On March 22, 1926, the New York, Westchester and Boston Railway's (NYW&B) Larchmont Gardens Station opened at 90 Harmon Drive in Larchmont, New York. It closed on October 31, 1937, along with the rest of the Port Chester branch, just a few months before the rest of the railroad ceased operations on December 31, 1937. But like much of the NYW&B, it soon found another use, and on October 7, 1938, it reopened as the Girl Scout Meeting House. In 1958 it was purchased from the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad Company for one dollar. The building has since been expanded and recently had a historic marker added. Its proximity to the MTA Metro-North Railroad New Haven Line can be seen in this pic, taken on the snowy evening of January 19, 2024.
