On a snowy January 21, 2026, a Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) Main Line train crosses the new Île Bigras Railway Bridge over the Rivière des Prairies shortly after departing the station at Île-Bigras. Immediately to the left stands the original 1916 railway bridge built by Canadian National Railway, which once carried commuter trains of the former Deux-Montagnes Line between Sainte-Dorothée and Pierrefonds-Roxboro via Île Bigras. With the conversion of the corridor to the REM’s automated light-rail system, the historic bridge was retired from rail service and is slated for potential reuse as a future pedestrian and cycling trail across the river.
