Early in the morning, December 18, 2003, an eastbound auto rack train slices through the middle of Caliente, Nevada. The old business district and the Mission Style railroad station, now the Village hall, is to the left and the residential section and new highway to the right. Caliente sits at north end of Rainbow Canyon, the site of many disastrous floods from the early 1900’s through 2005. At one time Caliente was a division point, crew change and steam maintenance center.e
