| NS SD80MAC No. 7213 sits quietly in the storage line at the Chattanooga Diesel Shop awaiting sale to a new owner, a reminder that it has been 20 years since Norfolk Southern inherited part of the SD80MAC fleet from the 1999 Conrail split and later acquired the remaining 12 units from CSX around 2015, before ultimately selling all 28 locomotives in 2020 under their “Top21 Plan,” with three going to Canadian Pacific and the remainder to Progress Rail for recycling.
