Remarks & Notes
A single E-33 (3,300 hp) electric is at the point of a westbound manifest, waiting on a new crew at the sewage plant grade crossing. This locomotive was built by GE in January, 1957 as the VGN Class EL-C No. 139. It was renumbered to NW 239 after the 1959 merger, and was sold to the New Haven after NW discontinued electric operations in 1962, renumbered to 308, and designated Class EF-4. In 1969, the NH became part of the Penn Central, which reclassified the EF-4s as E-33s and again renumbered these units. Today, two of the original twelve units survive- Nos. 132 (4601) and 135 (4604.)
