| Commuter Cosmopolitans.
Metro-North Railroad (MNR) M2 car 8707 is on display at the railroad's Component Change Out (CCO) building during an open house event at New Haven Yard. The car - along with mate 8708 - are the last remaining cars of their class, and were brought down from the Danbury Railway Museum (DRM) for the event. The 244-car M2 fleet - which were branded as the Cosmopolitans - was built by a GE / Budd / Canadian Vickers / Avco consortium from 1973-1976 and were the backbone of New Haven Line service until the arrival of the M8 cars, which led to the M2s being retired at the end of 2018. |
