| CXR 620 handles grain loading at the Weskan elevator east of Haswell, at the site of the vanished town of Galatea — a settlement that existed from 1887 to 1948. This former Missouri Pacific mainline lay dormant for years and even faced abandonment twice. Yet against all odds, it’s 2025, and we’re photographing an SD70MAC at work on the line once thought lost. To the right of the train, the weathered remains of an old signal stand as a silent witness to the days when this route handled high-density mainline traffic. |
