Maryland & Delaware's Conrail Express painted SW900 sits at Selbyville, faced with an uncertain future. The MDDE's ops were taken over by Carload Express, owners of neighboring road Delmarva Central. The MDDE's longtime mainstay RS3Ms have been sold to the Delaware-Lackawanna, while this unit remains. MDDE 801, an ex-NYC unit, was one of two engines painted for Conrail Express, a short-lived shortline program that CR operated. The other unit, an RBMN U23B, was wrecked not long after being released in the early 90s.
