The Amtrak Borealis train service began on May 21, 2024. It connects St. Paul, MN, to Chicago, IL, via Milwaukee, with 1 train each way each day. I guess the trains don't wye at STP, so they run with power on both ends. The eastbound #1340 rolls into the Wisconsin Dells for the 15:35 station stop. With Amtrak trains #8 arriving at 13:00, #1333 at 15:03, and #1340 at 15:35, this place can get busy for a little bit in the afternoons.
The Empire Builder crosses the state on its way to St. Paul, Seattle and Portland. The Hiawatha Corridor between Milwaukee and Chicago is one of Amtrak's busiest routes.
