Austin & Texas Central #442 sits on a yard track under threatening skies, awaiting the installation of a new traction motor. #442 has been out of service for almost a decade, supplanted by GP40-3 #3118 (formerly HZRX #3134).
Austin Steam Train Association volunteers hope to have #442 back in service within the next year, which would bring the classic alligator back to the rails of Central Texas.
