Remarks & Notes |
The Nebraska Zephyr pulls out of the East Union depot as it passes the IRM's diesel shops. #9911A is the oldest passenger engine at the museum, having been built in 1940 for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy. The engine pulled the Twin Zephyr between Chicago and Minneapolis as well as the Nebraska Zephyr between Chicago and Lincoln. It later spent 13 years on the Colorado & Southern before IRM purchased it in 1968. This is the only surviving Zephyr trainset from the CB&Q anywhere. |
