Remarks & Notes
UP Turbine number 16 is coupled to a DD35B and is ready for its next assignment. Its nearing the end up its service life as it was retired in February of 1970. These turbines were nicknamed Big Blow. They could have been Big Boy, but that name was already taken. These were the most powerful locomotives built and they were huge. They weighed 849,248 pounds without the tender and had a starting tractive effort of 212,312 pounds.
