Rolling Scrap. With NYNJ Rail's locomotives dealing with the inbounds coming from New Jersey on the NYNJ 100 barge, the yard in Brooklyn, New York is usually bare on the morning of March 25, 2024. On the right is a long line of gondolas filled with scrap metal of all kinds, on the left are 12 MTA NYCT Subway Budd built R-32s, also destined for disposal. While these 60 year old cars are well past their expected service life and have been out of service for more than two years, there are a significant number that have been held on MTA property for preservation and work service.
