When the British Petroleum (BP Products North America) refinery in Carson was sold to Tesoro Petroleum, their SW1200 switcher, BPOX 458, became Tesoro 001. Built by EMD in February 1959 as Colorado & Southern 157, later renumbered to C&S 252 and, eventually, parent company Burlington Northern absorbed the C&S and renumbered this diesel BN 252. The BN merger with the Santa Fe in 1995 caused this locomotive to become BNSF 3520. BNSF eventually sold it to Arco Petroleum Products, it got renumbered ARPX 458. When BP acquired Arco, this engine retained it number but the reporting mark changed to BPOX. (Carson, California – February 23, 2014)
