Rio Grande and Missouri Pacific locomotives rest beneath the large grain elevator at Kansas City Southern’s Knoche Yard in Kansas City, Missouri, on December 8, 1985. Rio Grande utilized the KCS facility with their entrance to Kansas City via MP trackage rights acquired with the Union Pacific’s 1982 merger of MP and Western Pacific. Rolling by on the near track is KCS SW1500 No. 5344 and slug No. 4255.
