CASTLE GATE UT Aug 22 1981 — EMD built this GP9 (b/n 20525) for the Rio Grande in June 1955 as DRGW 5923. In January 1977 Utah Power & Light Co. purchased it, repainted it and it became UPLX 5923. It was to be used as a switcher but a caption in Rio Grande Diesels A Pictorial History Vol. 2, copyright 1984, records, “since then it has seen little service.” Is it still there? My photo.
