This little critter was ordered by the Department of Energy in the 1940s and used in the construction of the Hanford Nuclear Site. I can remember it sitting in this spot since at least the early 1990s, It pretty much acts both a bumper for reefers on the Coastal Spur and as decoration and a marker for Coastal Transportation Company. Coastal is an Alaskan maritime shipping company that operates between Seattle, Dutch Harbor, and the western Aleutian Islands. This short spur is the closest the westernmost part of Alaska gets to direct rail service.
