Remarks & Notes |
2 GE's are just beginning the hard shove on the back of this grain train as they dig into the 1% grade towards Rich Mountain. 4 GE's will fight gravity for the next 20 miles as they climb from 538 feet to the summit at Rich Mountain at 1621 feet. Here the train passes over Shawnee Creek about 10 miles south of Heavener. The Ouachita Mountains Range along the Oklahoma/Arkansas boarder was a tough area to build the railroad thru. |
