Today, the route through large cut at Iron Ridge is double-track with the extension of Austin Siding westward to the location of Weed by Montana Rail Link. On June 30, 2021, an eastbound BNSF coal train drops downgrade into the widened cut. a small portion of the old tunnel portal that once penetrated the ridge is visible just to the right of the lead locomotive.
