In spring/summer 1973, a buddy and I made several trips from home in Auburn to Montgomery, hoping to see and shoot lots of models and paint schemes. In Auburn we got two SCL-powered trains a day (215/216), but they almost always ran with solid sets of GP40s. Our first couple of trips to Montgomery, SCL was loaded with more GP40s on the 'big' trains, though we did see old geeps and U18Bs on the long-distance locals. Finally, on the beautiful sunny morning of June 5, we saw a great set of power in S&NA yard, about to head south to Dothan. There was a GP40, but lucky for us it was pulling up the rear behind an SDP35 and a C630. Everything looked great, but our luck ran out. What had looked like an imminent departure was delayed about three hours, and the beautiful morning turned into an afternoon of thunderstorms. We waited under the shed at Union Station, figuring (correctly, it would turn out) that we would have few future chances to see or shoot SDPs and Alcos. We did our best in the driving rain, and this is the result.

From a hint of "Bee" (NKP 765), colorful "Bees" (KCS), "Bees" w/ "attitude", to "Bees" that "sting" your eyes, in their own way they have "Bee" on display! Equipment that "Buzzes" with Yellow & Black colors! ("Bees" can still "Bee" entering this "hive"!)
