With most of the town of Union Mills, Indiana asleep after a long weekend, the fabled SDM locomotives of the Chesapeake and Indiana railroad slumber away in their respective yard facilities. Here, the 818 is tied down behind a short cut of 3-Bay hoppers under a blanket of clear skies and bright stars. To the immediate right of the train, the old Distant Approach B&O Signal still guards the tracks around Co-Alliance after being saved by the railroad and made a pretty decent light source for photography. With a crew scheduled to interchange with CSX in the morning, this line would be a bustling area as the crack of dawn would make itself apparent.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
