Remarks & Notes |
Morristown & Erie 20 pauses in the middle of Monroe Street in Garfield, NJ shortly before curving onto the NJT interchange track. In tow are the last remaining pieces of New York & Greenwood Lake Railway equipment which had been stored in Passaic for many months in anticipation of this day. This would be the first of several moves that would ultimately bring the equipment to a storage location in Honesdale, PA. Directly behind 20 is an RCPE covered hopper which had been stranded on the Dundee Spur after NYGL operations ceased. This car was not part of the historic equipment move, and it would be set out for an NS local crew to retrieve later. Its presence at the head end of the consist gives the appearance of a revenue move...sadly those days are over for the Dundee Spur. This line also represents the last active street-running freight operation in the State of New Jersey. |
