Remarks & Notes
The daily boxcar train from Bolivia, with cars of the EMPRESA FERROVIARIA ANDINA S.A (with the former inscription of FCA=Ferrocarril Andino) is running through the vast volcanic landscape from the Ascotan pass towards Calama and the harbour of Antofagasta. The train is pulled by the former Queensland Railway GL26C-2 # 2004 and former Columbia (FNC) GT22CU-3 (rebuilt GR12) # 2404 of the FCAB (Ferrocarril de Antofagasta a Bolivia). In the background the about 6040 meter high Cerro Palpana.

Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
