As part of the projects of new Tuen Ma Line, the reforming of IKK trains began in 2015. Works include adding carriages from the East/West Rail Line or new order to the existing 4-car SP1950 trains on Ma On Shan Line. All 4-car units had withdrawn service in 2018, and start returned as 8-car formation.
