Virgin Trains replace its entire electric train fleet with Class 390 Pendolino in 2002, a high-speed tilting train built by Alstom. It is one of the fastest EMUs operating in the UK, at a max. record speed of 233 km/h. Fifty-three train sets were built at a formation of 9 and 11-car.
