Remarks & Notes

The east switch of Salida siding is no longer visible through the brush as trees and bushes encroach on the Tennessee Pass main line in Colorado that Union Pacific has rail banked for over twenty years. Hard to believe that Salida was once a major Rio Grande division point with a dual-gauge yard, two roundhouses and all the other components necessary to keep an important railroad town humming. It seems as if there’s hardly a trace of railroad today…
