From Ridge Ave and on a very cold fall-autumn morning, NS freight heads east through the trench that goes through the Allegheny Commons Park West, by the Ft. Wayne Line - NS Pittsburgh Division. It's a very popular railfanning spot throughout the year but especially in the fall, it was one of the priority and must-see places on my list, very happy to have been there. Unfortunately for me, I could not see or enjoy what many know as "The Yellow Brick Road", but it was also a pleasure to see how the rail transport integrates and coexists with a complex city such as Pittsburgh, in this case as an important NS corridor harmoniously crosses a beautiful park.
