On the north side of BNSF’s Alliance yard in Nebraska on May 23, 2014 sit Burlington Northern GE C30-7 Nos. 5549 and 5545. Both were heavily used in coal service for for much of their lives, but spent their later years as back-up generators for the Alliance Locomotive Shop. The two now wait their fate next to the derelict elevators off Platte Avenue that are probably waiting for a similar outcome.
