With the B & R Subdivision, between Rutland and Bennington, Vermont, being curfewed for bridgework, the opportunity arose to do some marketing and PR photos with both of the six axle Vermont Railway SD70M-2s… as the case has been, the pair cannot run directly back to back due to bridge weight restrictions. Having the right availability of 4-axle unit to split them with a red unit is often difficult. With good clear weather forecast, the time was ripe for the all reds to make the marketing and PR run on Sept 28 and 29. VTR SD70M-2s 432 and 431 bookend CLP GP40-2 306 as they cross Vermont Rt 103 at Proctorsville, VT.
The EMD SD (special duty) series are a strong and reliable kind of locomotive which still serve America's rails today. They have proved themselves reliable by clocking in several million miles of freight service over several decades.
