Newly acquired Massachusetts Central NW5 still wore its Southern Railway colors as it worked for its new shortline owner out of Ware, MA, in the spring of 1982. EMD built only 13 of these 1000hp light road switchers in 1946-47. Most of them went to GN/BN; this was SR's sole example.
