| Starting its 300-mile trek to Chicago, Amtrak's "Saluki" accelerates out of the ex-Illinois Central yard, with the old steam-era concrete coal bunkers still standing in the background. (A "Saluki" is an Egyptian dog; the mascot of Southern Illinois University.) |
