| CLOVIS NM Jan 24 1976 -- It has just begun to rain as Santa Fe U36C 8719 sits at the Clovis engine facility. Also pictured are an SD45-2, an SD45, an SD26 and an Locotrol receiver unit (converted B unit). At the time of this photo the roundhouse (behind photographer) is still in operation. As a grade-schooler growing up in nearby Portales NM my father and I made several visits to the roundhouse in the ’50s. All I remember is a fascinating steam locomotive in the northernmost stall. If only I had taken pictures. |
