The 1979 Pacific Railroad Society "Mountain Outin" passenger special, with Amtrak SDP40F AMTK 518 and AMTK 517, is rolling westbound towards Bakersfield through Cable. Railfans occupying vestibules and baggage doors have cameras ready for the next of many uphill freight we would pass as we slowly rolled down the mountain.
