Sometimes don't you wonder why the railroad does what it does? Well this is one of those places at Ackley. CN usually to rips out anything and everything that doesn't get used to help with cost control.
Well here at Ackley the CN at one time to operate this ex-M&STL trackage north up to Geneva, IA. Around 2009 the track was abandoned and the diamond was removed. For some unknown reason the northbound pot signal is still in and working for track that you can't even get too anymore. CN uses the track south of here to interchange cars with the Iowa River Railroad. North of here never knew there was a railroad, just about everything has been removed. Just an odd ball situation that has been overlooked by the railroad.

A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
