| It is always a surprise when I come across a vintage engine that is not yet in the Railpictures data base - at least not it its current paint scheme or number. BNSF 2697 is a GP39-3 which was built 50 years ago as a GP35 for the AT&SF. On this day it was paired as a matched Heritage III duo with BNSF 2273, a 42 year old GP38-2 built for the Burlington Northern. |
