I count myself lucky to have caught a meet at this quiet, out of the way location in Salt Lake City where Union Pacific and Rio Grande's Passenger Mainlines crossed at grade. UP's North Yard based 'Long Street' switcher meets Southern Pacific's Roper based '230 Drag' at 9th South and 5th West on Aug. 13, 1996. The late Rio Grande/SP conductor Bob Carrol gives the UP train a good roll by at the diamonds.
