P42 #145 is in the paint booth wearing a coat of primer just before receiving its Heritage Phase III scheme. As a member of the Amtrak 40th Anniversary Core Team and co-designer of the Heritage scheme adaptations it was really cool to see a project that we all held near and dear to our hearts becoming a reality. For me, this day was like that moment when you want to pinch yourself to make sure it's really happening. All of the phone calls, meetings, revisions and extra long hours were culminating into something tangible - Something awesomely tangible. I initially figured we'd be applying the as-delivered Genesis version for the Phase III representative, and warmed up to the idea of a classic version of this scheme the instant I learned we were to "make it match an F40." I had always wondered what it would be like if the Genesis units were delivered with a classic version of Phase III, and here I was having helped create it.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
