NS/ Progress Rail PR43C #4004 is undergoing tests prior to delivery to Norfolk Southern. The unit and its sister locomotives are operating out of the Birmingham, AL terminal at this time. This 4,300 h.p. loco has a Caterpillar C-175 16 cylinder 3,600 hp engine for heavy-duty service and a CATC-18 700 hp Genset that kicks in when idling or limited power is required. Thanks to the folks at Progress Rail in Patterson, GA for their cooperation as we gathered details for our future production at Overland Models.
