January 31, 1979- CR 6407 was the leader and CR 6377 was the trailing unit of a Buffalo-Enola freight that rear-ended a stopped Syracuse-Enola freight. Both trains were to stop for a northbound freight to pass on the adjoining Muncy Siding. Tragically, the flagman in the caboose of the SYEN-0 and the head brakeman of the CNEN-0 were killed upon impact. Three crew members were injured. Seventeen month-old CR 6407 was scrapped. This view shows the 6377 as cleanup of the wreck site was well underway the following day.
