While a CN train sits on the main a WSOR executive train shows up and backs into the interchange. All this happens while a CN signal gang is temporarily (30+ min) split apart from one another in the wind chill by the sitting train that hasn't cleared. Meanwhile, up on the bridge out of view another drama unfolds, as freezing conditions from an earlier snow squall have left a treacherous roadway, resulting in loss of vehicle control by motorists. The photographers witness several near misses and finally someone loses control at the end of the bridge and rolls their vehicle. Fortunately a public safety officer is nearby and soon an ambulance and salt truck shows up. After becoming a slip victim of the invisible ice myself, I regroup, the sun pops out for the only lit shot of the chase and its the last photo of the day. Feeling completely satisfied but slightly embarrassed and sore, I get off the bridge, crank the heat in the van and go home. Time to get outta here.
