This signal bridge once spanned the thriving Jersey Central Railroad's Main Line approach to its Jersey City Terminal. Once a bustling six track main through this area, the line was forever altered after the Aldene Plan of 1967, which closed the Jersey City Terminal and routed most trains off this segment of track and over the parallel Lehigh Valley Railroad into Newark Penn Station. It survived into Conrail as the Elizabeth Industrial Track, but the once mighty main is now abandoned.
