This train WILL depart on time. This is Japan. A futuristic looking Shinkansen waits to leave Tokyo station. JR staff are always immaculately turned out, with caps and white gloves.

Power car Shinkansen Serie 0 in the railway museum York

The excellent Kyoto railway museum is a 20 minute walk from the main station. According to the museum guide leaflet, these are (left to right) 500 series 521-1, Kuhane 581-35 and Kuha 489-1.

The ASTRAM line in Hiroshima opened in 1994. The depot for the rubber tyred trains is near Chorakuji station, and is actually under the transport museum.
