A westbound mixed freight approaches Bison siding only 5 miles from Marias summit
A short train #602, the Whitefish - Havre local, passes through Bison.

This westbound rail train picked up a nice coating of snow on its trip from Laurel.
The Empire Builder is in its home turf of Marias Pass with the beautiful mountians of Glacier National Park in the background.

Just off of US Highway 2 east of Bison, a small side road offers this view of #8 descending the east slope of Marias Pass.
BNSF 5477 drifts downgrade at Bison. The train is heading for Montana’s rolling plains, leaving the trees, tunnels and snow sheds behind.
