An empty coal train passes a parked work train in Irmo, South Carolina on the former Columbia, Newberry & Laurens line. CSX #6462 was built in 1980 as Louisville & Nashville GP40-2 #6600.
Interchange Work. The GRLW HH pushes a boxcar back past the switch so that the Pickens RR can then pick up the boxcar and take it to their line for delivery near Honea Path, SC.
I was a bit surprised by this somewhat unusual engine lash-up in the CSX yard back in 2011 of a GE AC6000CW and EMD GP38-2, though the smaller unit may not have been online.
