A pair of new SD50's glide through Buttermilk curve on an eastbound coal train. I was used to seeing four SD40-2's on coal trains prior to the delivery of the SD50's.
Built on AAR trucks from retired Alcos these units were commonplace on MP.

I really like these gutsy sounding stubby little units, kind of like an SD-45T-2 with a short guy syndrome.
I guess it's a chop nose but this almost likes like an as built configuration.
The "Garland L. Tucker" is already working for its new owner on this westbound freight because the Rock Island is history.
