Four Missouri Pacific SD40-2's. The 6000-series (6000-6073) were equipped with dynamic brakes, for coal service. The total count of 74 units, were designated as "SD40-2c" by MoPac.

The Prototype SW10 was rebuilt in 1979 at the Omaha Shops to Union Pacific specifications. UP 1240 Rebuilt from SW9 1826, UP 1241 Rebuilt from TR5A 1871.
GP50 3140 with it's tiger stripe nose, with a B30-7 and another GP50 are in charge of a hot trailer train on the Ex Northern Pacific track-age.

BNSF9741 is not quite on the 2.2% but you would not know it by the sound of 8 EMD's in RUN 8. The coal train is bound for Oregon's Boardman Power Plant.
BNSF 5984 now has most of the train on the 2.2% climb as it approaches Austin.

Evidently BNSF9275 in a driving rain storm descending Mullan Pass as the rear DPU of an empty coal train. Who would have thought... lol :-)
MRL327 descends Mullan Pass below Austin on an Early October morning. MRL 327 started life as an SP locomotive, so this mountain warrior is no stranger to steep mountain grades.
