The train has just crossed the GRAND TRUNK WESTERN tracks and is headed north along the east side of the impressive Durand railway station.

Grand Trunk's Train 21 has dropped off its Chicago bound coach in Durand and is now between Vernon and Corunna on its way to Muskegon.

Although at the time Grand Trunk Western depended mainly on steam power, even as early as 1946 Diesel 7911 was busily switching cars in the Pontiac, Michigan yards.
