Q693 begins the journey down the south end of the former Clinchfield as they pull out of Kingsport and cross the South Fork of the Holston River.

Q693 keeps it rolling through a meet with Q692 at Toe River and approaches the top of the grade as it exits Vance Tunnel at the South End of the Toe River siding.

Q693 winds its way to the summit just ahead at Altapass, passing one of the few on-line customers: the Quartz Corporation at the waypoint once known as Floatation.
