One of the two reamining Southern Region slam door units left in service on the national network. They are usually confined to work the short Brockenhurst to Lymington Pier line in Hampshire.
The last place in the UK to see old 'slamdoor' multiple units is the Lymington Branch on the south coats. Here, unit 1497 crosses Lymington Harbour on it's way from Lymington Pier to Brockenhurst.
