UP 5523 North, with three GEVOs and a SD70ACe up front, slowly rolls downgrade through Caliente until the rear of the train clears the speed restriction for northbounds on the horseshoe curve.
Union Pacific SD60M 6299 rounds the big horseshoe curve at Caliente, as it grinds upgrade toward the summit at Tehachapi. This engine was later renumbered 2454.
